Born Into A Time

Being part of the powerhouse Baby Boomer generation is not something for which one can take credit or blame; we simply were born into a time electrified with energy and possibility, accompanied by an unrestrained desire to stretch those wings of freedom and fly. Granted, whether or not we deserved it as individuals, the entire group has received praise, acclaim, notoriety, reproach, blessing and cursing.  In the absence of having been issued an instruction manual at any time in the journey, the accomplishments of this generation are remarkable.  And regardless of the number of years we count, or that stranger looking back at us in the mirror, there still is much to do and much to say. Therefore, while there is time, let’s shout it, sing it, play it, and believe it, knowing we are connected one to another; and our journey is the bridge.

  1. Nice concept. We baby boomers, for better or worse, have been a force, haven’t we? Thanks for stopping by The Lolly Diaries.

  2. Hi valleygrail, Glad you found my blog and thank you for following my attempts at humor! You are an awesome writer, and I’m hopping aboard for the ride. Love your stories, can’t wait for the next one. Pray for sun, please, can you tell I have Cabin Fever? 🙂

  3. I have a suggestion for you. Since you appear to have enjoyed visiting my blog on healthy eating and aging, perhaps you might run some items on sleep. With all you boomers turning 65, senior sleep is no small concern and it changes. Also, it is not true that seniors need less sleep.

    1. Thank you so much for reading my blog. I indeed appreciate your blog, because you are addressing our only hope for making this journey last as long as possible. Personally, I would like a couple more lifetimes! Regarding sleep, or the lack thereof; it is a current battle I am waging. And I have learned it’s not just me. Because I despise whining, I am waiting until I have the victory before addressing it publicly. I believe there is a solution that does not include pharmaceutical, and that is my quest. I am curious what your conclusions are, if you have reached them, yet.

      1. Please check out my Page on How Important is a good night’s Sleep? – I have written a number of posts on sleep in general and sleep and seniors.

      2. I should have mentioned that you can always reblog anything you see that you think your readers would be able to use. There is a reblog button on top of the page when you call up the item.

  4. Thanks for the follow on my blog. Greatly appreciated and you are warmly welcomed. Just read your ‘Okie’ Dog Double Dare – interesting and something I would have been completely unaware of having only hit the eastern side of the US (so far). Have a great week, MM 🍀

  5. Dear Valleygrail,

My name is Ashlee. I’m co-founder of The Youshare Project, with the mission to connect people around the world through stories. I recently stumbled across your blog and read the 12/7 post entitled “A Date Which Will Live In Infamy.” It’s beautifully written and incredibly compelling. I think it would make a wonderful youshare, because it offers a unique glimpse into a pivotal event in history that, as you mention, not many people can fully grasp or have sadly forgotten or may not have taken the time to understand. If this sounds interesting to you, I would love to email you directly with more information and formally invite you to share your story with the project.

You have my email address and website (although please note the site is still under development and will launch Jan 2015). I hope to hear from you soon.

  6. HI, Boomer Junction! Thanks for stopping by my blog and liking my post – Stronger people have healthier brains. I predate you boomers by several years, but we have largely lived in the same time period. I was lucky enough to catch Elvis Presley’s first appearance on the summer TV show of the Dorsey Brothers in the mid-50’s. That’s one of the things you missed waiting around to be born.
